A few years ago I read a book called: “The Life You Were Born to Live”, by Dan Millman. This book describes, via the numerology of your date of birth, what kind of challenges and potentials you have.
I was born on the 14th of April of 1965. If you add these figures up, you get the number 30. And if you add 3 + 0 = 3. So according to Dan Millman, I am a 30/3.
This means that my potential and challenges are all related to self-expression, as 0 simply refines or amplifies the potential of the number it accompanies.
This is what Dan Millman has to say about a 30/3 (myself) – as I read through, it makes me wonder how much of our potential is already written in the stars:
“Number 3’s have a large emotional body that can take over a room and uplift an entire audience”.
“The arena in which 30/3’s express may be large, as in performance, teaching or addressing large groups, or smaller, involving a circle of family and friends”.
“Their expression blossoms with other people, perhaps one on one at first. Eventually, if they draw forth the courage, many 30/3’s find the opportunity to speak before groups of people. I often recommend public-speaking courses for 30/3’s”.
“These individuals bring enthusiasm, compassion, understanding and service into the world, in ways large or small, through their creative expression. When they speak, they do so with attunement and sensitivity, and they uplift others. They are enthusiastic and connected to their emotions, and their expressiveness is passionate, forthright and even inspired. They manage their lives responsibly, not letting their own or other people’s emotions run them. They use their inner gifts of expression, sensitivity and intuition in the service of others, with a joy and altruism that further amplifies these resources, putting 30/3’s in touch with the subtle aspects and mystery of existence”.
Talking about coming into alignment with your destiny and potential! Once you taste it, would you accept anything less?
It has taken me a life of 54 years to actually get to this awareness, but I am holding on to it like a life-saving raft. Anything less means that you are accepting less joy and happiness, abundance and fulfilment than you deserve.
So firstly, keep track of every piece of feedback you are ever given. Take them all into account, even if at the time you dismiss them. When the time comes, it will all give you the opportunity to paint the whole picture. And secondly, find the passion inside and allow your drama and emotions to show through your speeches. The rest will be achieved all by itself!
Self-expression is linked to self-confidence.
In June 2008, I heard the voice of Spirit that said: “You must learn public speaking as this is the doorway to your future”.
More than the doorway to my future, the prospect alone of standing in front of an audience and speak felt more like a little hole on a wall through which I would have to squeeze myself with all my might if I wanted to come through to the other side!
INTENTIONS
“First was the word …” says the Bible.
In all accounts, it says that the way God creates is through the word = sound.
There are three levels of manifestation: thought, word and action.
Thought is related to spirit, word is related to the mind and action is related to the body, to the physical.
When these three aspects of our psyche are in alignment, we create an experience that is commonly named as “walk our talk”. It means that we are congruent: we say what we think and we do what we say.
When we are not congruent, we are out of integrity. And when we are out of integrity, we simply disintegrate! Our external world mirrors our inner state of being and so when our world is falling apart… it is because there are cracks in the foundations of our life, in our integrity!
It is the bow of intention which directs the arrow of energy: intention is what creates movement. Don’t get mislead as to how things look – just see or know the intention behind things because it is your intentions which ignite good or bad energies. Hence, you can direct your energy inside with a congruent state of being into the achievement of your goals… or otherwise, the achievement of something else that you didn’t expect! And which will simply mirror the real you behind the intentions.
And so you need to be very clear on your intentions.
Likewise, if you have needs, these will underline your intentions, whether you are aware of them or not. Wants alone won’t take you there because needs will create a leak of your energy until they are addressed.
For instance: I intend to be a well-known and successful professional speaker, because my passion is to ignite people into finding their true voice and acting on their life-mission.
But if I have the need for recognition, I will make choices based on people approving of me, which will make me speak as people want me to and/or expect me to.
But that will lack personal spark and conviction, so I will not succeed as a brilliant professional speaker because I will be compromising my integrity. I will simply be a mediocre speaker.
However, if I have addressed my needs of self-worth and self-esteem, healed the ghosts of the past and come to terms with whom I am, whom I have become, then the path will be cleared for me to simply work on passion, and I will speak from the heart:
I will not choose subjects that others want or expect me to talk about.
I will break boundaries and challenge comfort zones.
I will inspire people to take a stand and move forward.
I then may become a well-known and successful professional speaker.
SELF-EXPRESSION
Self-expression is a need people have. We all need to belong somewhere. We all need to ex-press who we are: this means that we all need to put our gifts into the world and make them count. WE need to count, be acknowledged!
We express ourselves by our throat. In energy terms, there is an energy vortex in the throat area, called throat chakra.
A chakra is a spinning wheel of energy where Universal energy links to the physical body via its corresponding organs. The throat chakra covers mainly shoulders, jaw, mouth, gums and teeth, throat and back of the neck. Any imbalance in this chakra will bring a malady or illness or mal-adjustment to one or more of these areas in our body.
The throat chakra is our will centre, our centre of communication and integrity. It relates to the honesty in your self-expression: Lying violates our mind-body-spirit alignment or integrity.
We express our choices with our voice.
Our choices have consequences on an energetic level.
Choosing not to make a choice is a choice in itself: for instance, choosing not to express our anger (speaking out) means that we repress our anger and this can result in laryngitis in a mild case or even throat cancer in extreme cases.
When we have a lump in our throat it can be because we don’t know how to speak the right words or we are suppressing our emotions.
The challenge of the throat chakra is to express ourselves in a truthful manner.
When this chakra is open and functioning well, one’s speech is clear and smooth. When it is blocked, not only does one find speaking or getting the right words out difficult, but one also feels an unwillingness to change.
The rhythm of music, creativity of dance, vibration of singing and communication through writing and speaking are all ways of expressing ourselves.
Do you want to become a better speaker? Are you in a rush to do so?
Do you want to excel, to become a polished speaker?
A little piece of technical information: I read somewhere that “sound moves the air molecules, which touch our ears, which get to our brain and which is transmitted to our nervous system. Our brain aligns itself with the vibration received”.
This is what happens when the audience resonates with the speaker. It is not always something you can control or analyze. When the brain and the nervous system react to the vibration of the sound of your voice, sometimes people react in an emotional way and something happens inside themselves that may not be able to be explained but which is real indeed. This is what I believe Dan Millman tries to explain with the expressions of “uplifting others” or “large emotional feelers” that capture the energy of a room…
People tell me that it is my energy and passion that come through when I speak, motivating them into action. If that is so, then I summon you to look inside your heart and decide whether you want to express yourself out of a passion to reach your potential, to align yourself with your life-path, or if there is a different reason.
Because if there is a different reason, you will find yourself in the future facing speaking engagements that may challenge your integrity and will force you to compromise who you are in exchange of recognition, money, status-quo or other people’s expectations. Although at that time the choices may be easier, in the long term, they will break the foundations of your inner self.
I intend to use the opportunity of public speaking and public speaking coaching to build seniority, experience and authority in order to follow my path and help others do the same.
What will you be using this opportunity for?
Article from my book:
“Dr Ana’s Course in Public Speaking: Transformation Through Self-expression”
“In the following pages, you will not find a 100-tips-to-become-a-professional-speaker kind of manual. This course has been created with the intention to lead you and inspire you towards a path of personal development using public speaking as a vehicle. It is meant to help you transform yourself into a powerful speaker; a healed person who is ready to command your own authority in front of an audience or a group and an individual who is able to express, not just your ideas but your personality as well, without fear or self-doubt. If you are looking only for tips and techniques of public speaking, don’t read further because you will be disappointed. But if you are looking for a course that will trigger a complete turnaround of your life by using public speaking as a tool or channel to reach out and give others a part of your soul, then you and I have met for a reason”.
